Nancy Lee Paul
Nancy is the manager of a small consulting engineering firm in Queens, but her passions are farming and working with international students. Growing up in various upstate New York towns, her father worked for the USDA teaching farmers how to do crop rotation and irrigation. He was a suburban farmer always looking for an empty lot to borrow. Her childhood summers were spent planting, weeding, and picking bushels of produce which we canned or sold by pulling a red wagon around the neighborhood selling strawberries, tomatoes and zucchini. She moved away to go to college in Virginia, partly to avoid the whole summer garden ordeal, but by the second year found herself gardening and canning on her own terms. Thirty five years ago she moved to New York City “temporarily” to get work experience, and has lived in Far Rockaway ever since. In March 2014, she happened to drive by, stopped and met Matt, introducing herself by saying she had just lost her husband and needed something to do on the weekends. In 2017 she formally joined the farm as a partner.
